With the opening of the first phase called Finding Nemo, this May 31 was officially opened in Orlando, Florida, the new Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel belonging to the Walt Disney World Resort chain.
The other stages of the establishment will gradually open: Cars is scheduled for June 18, The Lion King for August 10 and The Little Mermaid for September 15.
The new hotel is located next to Disney's Pop Century Resort and will include, when fully opened, 1,120 family suites in the areas of The Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo. In addition, it will have 864 themed rooms in the part of The Little Mermaid.
In this way, Disney's Art of Animation Resort will have about 2,000 rooms. For its construction it was necessary to create more than 800 jobs; in operation the hotel will create 750 new places in the hotel part.
It also has 27 acres of landscape and around 2,300 parking spaces for cars.
To draw a little the magnitude of this architectural project, from Disney they use didactic examples: "There are about 529,000 square meters of ceramic tiles in the project, enough to cover a two-lane road almost seven kilometers long. If all the gates of the resort were stacked, they would be as high as New York's Empire State Building ."
