With a 180-room property, Marriott hopes to capture, starting in 2013, the market for corporate and tourism travelers visiting the city of Cali, Colombia.
According to information released by the hotel chain, in September 2013 the construction of this new hotel will begin, which will complement Marriott's offer in the coffee country by joining the two existing hotels in Bogotá.
Once this construction is completed, which is expected to have a restaurant, sushi bar, meeting rooms and a ballroom, the company's room offer throughout the country will reach 800.
In addition to the above, the possibility of undertaking a project in Cartagena for 2015 is being evaluated, although the final decision has not yet been made, according to Fernando Poma, who is at the head of Marriott's projects in Colombia.
"You have to be extremely selective when investing. You can't go into a euphoria and lose perspective. We have made two large hotels, we have already added 650 rooms, and we are going to stop in Bogotá. Let's see how the market behaves, because other hotels will surely come. We don't want to overbuild," Poma said.
