A total of 4,000 hotels are being built in different regions of Colombia; this was confirmed by Juan José Correa, national president of the Hotel and Tourism Association of Colombia (Cotelco).
The official confirmed that these new properties include areas dedicated to ecological and mountain tourism and other options in the establishments that will be located both in the interior of the country and in the coastal area.
Having a medium and long-term vision, the leader explained to different delegates of the National Government, that this situation of growth in hotel capacity merits an increase in both airplane seats and the promotion of tourism in internal and external markets.
"especially of the destinations that have presented greater tourist reception, in order to improve the conditions of this economic segment and recover the investments that the hotel guild is making in the country," Correa said.
One of the primary objectives of the union, said its representative, is to strengthen the arrival of visitors to the region of the Coffee Axis, since it has been visibly affected by the closure of the natural park of Los Nevados. It is expected that this panorama will change in the cities of Manizales and Caldas that faithfully preserve the coffee culture of the country and is prepared to receive tourists interested in this subject.
According to Correa, the country's hoteliers highlight the support they have received from the National Government, especially from the control agencies, in guaranteeing the rights and care of travelers, which has allowed them to maintain an economic balance. In the same way, the representative highlighted the evolution that the South American country has had in the issue of airlines and route coverage.
