The new commitment of the InterContinenta Hotels Group (IHG) hotel chain is boutique hotels, a niche that, according to the organization, represent a great potential for growth in Mexico.
Through its Indigo brand, the U.S. firm opened the Indigo Veracruz-Boca del Río hotel, but there the plans do not stop, as the growth expectations aim to reach new markets in the Aztec country, such as Guadalajara, Puebla and the Federal District, as reported by Karla Gabriela Bravo, general director of the Indigo Veracruz hotel.
This first initiative that opened about a month ago is operated by the tour operator Sevastopol, a group that manages other brands in the global context such as Holiday Inn, Crown Plaza, Intercontinental and Holiday Inn Express.
"Indigo is the boutique hotel part that IHG has, it's a brand that is very well positioned in the United States. The one in Veracruz is the 62nd Indigo Hotel in the world, the only one in Mexico," bravo said.
Keep in mind that boutique hotels aim to distinguish themselves by being smaller and more personalized. In that sense, the establishment located in Veracruz has 106 rooms and is aimed at both business and leisure travelers. Its facilities include a restaurant with traditional specialties, swimming pool, gym, conference room and internet installed in all areas of the property.
The property is located approximately ten minutes from the airport of the port jarocho, near the World Trade Center and Plaza de las Américas.
According to the general director of Indigo, since its opening a month ago, the hotel has exceeded occupancy expectations, the goal for 2012 is 55% and for 2013 65%.
