A new Hilton Worldwide hotel is being built in Rio de Janeiro. It is a building of 298 rooms that will be called Hilton Barra and will be the first in the Brazilian city.
The establishment is currently planned to open in 2014, with a view to expanding the offer of visitors to the major sporting events to be held in that country.
Dave Horton, Global Head of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts Brand, said: "Hilton Hotels & Resorts is going through a period of tremendous growth internationally and this project takes our name to one of the most important cities in Latin America. As one of the most visited cities in South America and host to the 2016 Olympic Games, Rio is an important market when it comes to international tourism and is key to affirming our presence in South America."
The hotel will be located very close to the future Olympic Park and less than five kilometers from the future Olympic Village. It will also be very close to the Barra de Tijuca beach and will be an attractive, comfortable and well located, for those who visit the city for sporting events.
"Hilton Worldwide currently has the largest development plan in Latin America in our history, and we are thrilled to add Rio de Janeiro to our growth list," said Danny Hughes, Hilton Worldwide's senior vice president for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America.
The Hilton Barra, Rio de Janeiro will offer rooms fully equipped with the services of the Hilton Serenity Collection. It will also be an excellent base of operations for events and business travelers, as it will have about 1,300 square meters of conference rooms, business center and will be located three kilometers from the convention center of the city, one of the largest in South America.
