Colombia. The Spanish hotel group NH Hoteles, announced the signing of an agreement that establishes the acquisition of the Colombian chain Hoteles Royal for a value of US$74.1 million. With this transaction, the hotel company seeks to strengthen its presence in Latin America, going from having 37 establishments to managing 57 properties in different countries of the region.
Specifically, NH Hotel Group will add 20 hotels and 2,257 rooms to its portfolio, distributed in 15 properties in Colombia, four in Chile and one in Ecuador.
In a communication issued by the Spanish company, Federico González Tejera, CEO of NH Hotel Group, said that "this acquisition allows us to grow in Latin America, one of the key objectives contemplated in our strategic plan, without this implying any deviation from the fulfillment of our commitments."
The official also added that "we are sure that the incorporation into the NH portfolio of the Royal Hotels will be done in a natural and simple way given the similarity of the product and positioning and we trust that this will be fully effective throughout this year."
