Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico area, as well as the cities of Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, are being considered by the Spanish hotel chain Barceló as ideal destinations for the expansion of its brand. According to company executives, the chain seeks to build or acquire up to 10 properties in Aztec territory in a period of 5 years.
To achieve this, the hotel company plans to invest more than US$200 million, in addition to establishing an action plan that allows them to incorporate these new establishments.
According to statements to local media by Gustavo Jiménez, director of expansion of Barceló Hotels, Mexico is currently the country in the region that offers them better economic conditions and guarantees of stability to undertake this initiative.
"Barceló's plans have always been to grow in Mexico, the situation of the influenza, the world market, the real estate bubble, made Barceló's management decide to go a little slower. To this day we feel that we can move forward with certainty of the chances of success we have," Jimenez said.
