The NH Hotels hotel chain received from the company Knauf the award for Best Global Hotel Sustainability Project for its work to ensure the implementation of sustainability, energy efficiency and biohabitability standards in its properties, through the creation and use of the Eco-efficient Hotel manual.
The manual includes recommendations based on different international standards, including LEED certification. Mónica Chao, Director of Environment and Sustainability of the NH group, explained that "the application of the recommendations contained in the manual will achieve a triple benefit: economic, environmental and social. Our goal is to take care of people, the places where we are and, consequently, the planet."
In addition to the above, the hotel company is currently developing a renovation project for 27 of its hotels in Spain and central Europe, in which technologies will be used to improve energy performance and environmentally friendly materials.
