Dominican Republic. Mexico and the Dominican Republic were the destinations chosen by AMResorts to continue its expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean with the construction of two new properties. Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa will be the brand's new establishment in the Dominican Republic, while the Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa will arrive in the popular Riviera Maya sector of Mexico.
Alejandro Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group (the group that owns AMResorts), said that his plan for 2015 is to continue with the expansion project that last year allowed them to grow the number of hotels in the region by 20%.
"This fact is closely linked to Apple Leisure Group's distribution, infrastructure and proven track record that help us support our expansion and capitalize on the opportunities available in Mexico and the Caribbean."
The opening of the hotel in the Dominican Republic is planned for 2016 and will represent the company's ninth property on this island. The Secrets Cap Cana will be an adults-only hotel and will have 470 rooms.
