Study indicates that the photovoltaic energy market in Latin America will grow 20% in 2019

International. Trina Solar released its projection of growth of the solar energy market in Latin America. The company projects an increase in projects of at least seven gigawatts (GW) for 2019, representing a growth of 20% in the region, compared to the previous year and with Mexico as the main driver.

Trina Solar began investing in Mexico five years ago, due to the great potential it has for the great solar resource it has (average daily radiation of around 5.5 kilowatts per hour per square meter, one of the highest globally). "We reiterate our interest and commitment to this country, where we already have about a GW of photovoltaic panels installed. This year two more projects will be built, one of 104 million watts (MW) in Aguascalientes and another of 120 MW) in Zacatecas," said Álvaro García-Maltrás, General Director of the firm for Latin America and the Caribbean.

"Mexico has ideal solar conditions, competitive costs and diverse players, including Mexican companies. What worries us is the cancellation of auctions that are taking place, this can cause that for the first time the growth of the market is reduced, slowing down its development both in the country and in the region, "adds García Maltrás.

Given its commitment to Mexico, Trina Solar presented at the Solar Power forum where she explained the way in which it can contribute to the growth of the local industry with its solutions and the benefits they give to the user. The company is leading the transition to the next generation of smart solar energy technology that involves the integration of Cloud Computing, real-time monitoring of panels and the Internet of Things (IoT), for the development of which it established an alliance with Siemens, IBM, Huawei, Alibaba and China's Tsinghua University.

Trina Solar predicts that IoT will have a high impact on the energy industry over the next two decades. With this technology, the firm moves towards the Trina 3.0 Era. Since its foundation, it has been characterized by marking icons in its evolution: From 1997 to 2006, the Trina 1.0 Era was defined, where it laid the foundations for the manufacture of photovoltaic modules and achieved the globalization of market, capital and talent. In the Trina 2.0 Era (from 2007 to 2016), it was placed in the world as the leading supplier of photovoltaic modules and leader of comprehensive solar energy solutions. In 2017, the Chinese manufacturer successfully started the Trina 3.0 Era, as a major player in the Energy Internet of Things.
