United States. IFMA's (International Facility Management Association) facilities management conference and exhibition, World Workplace 2019, attracted 4,580 attendees from 17 countries for an event that nearly set a record.
Attendees traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, from Europe, Africa, united Arab Emirates, Asia-Pacific, and North and South America to explore innovation in the workplace; the digital impact on FM systems; labor force productivity; how to prepare for and recover from on-site emergencies; and occupational health and well-being.
"These are exciting times for FM and corporate real estate professionals. With the wealth of knowledge we must possess, facility management is playing a broader and more strategic role in the design, construction, maintenance and dismantling of facilities. IFMA is taking the next steps necessary to lay the foundation for the future, to ensure that we remain the industry gold standard for FM education, accreditation, certification and best practices; and to lead the way in preparing our professional community for their expanded roles," commented IFMA President John Carrillo, CFM, IFMA Member.
World Workplace 2019 included a two-day exhibition, which featured more than 300 exhibitors on the fair floor, along with specialized educational sessions. The educational programming included more than 70 CEU-accredited sessions held Thursday through Friday, with an additional 24 Education Arena (non-CEU) sessions in the exhibition hall Wednesday through Thursday. This year's program provided attendees with unique presentations and insights for 2019, focusing on the evolution of the profession and recognizing the new direction in which the Facility Management industry is headed.
