Latin America. Innovations include support for installing cameras in the lighting rack, and a partnership with music providers to improve the customer experience.
Five retail-oriented technologies were recently launched by Swedish manufacturer Axis Communications. The releases allow for a more elegant arrangement of security cameras inside stores, facilitate live viewing on monitors in the sales space, and allow music to be streamed on customizable playlists, while respecting copyright.
The launches, now available, complement the portfolio of cameras, access control and intelligent audio for the retail sector. They are:
APP to show the cameras on TV
To prevent theft, some stores choose to install monitors displaying live video from the video surveillance system. Other stores prefer to leave these monitors in view of checkout operators. Some electronics stores even display images from cameras on TV for sale as a way to attract consumers.
Thinking about this need, Axis launched a free application that makes it easy to view live images on any monitor. It is possible to see a single or up to 16 cameras. Just download the app (available for Apple TV and Android TV). The system, designed for stores with up to 16 Axis cameras, works with AXIS Camera Companion image management software, also free and available in www.axis.com/en-hk/support/downloads.
Cameras on light rails
The lighting rail of the stores can be used to place security cameras. In addition to reducing installation costs, this option allows for a more elegant store design and an even more discreet video surveillance system.
The AXIS T91A33 accessory, available in black and white colours, was created for mounting a wide range of Axis cameras on light rails. No drill use or any changes to the rail are needed, and no cable needs to be placed on the walls or ceiling. In addition, by adopting this installation model, the merchant manages to relocate the cameras easily if the design of the store changes. The product is compatible with three-circuit universal rails and linear rails.
Tranquility in the dark
Modular cameras are one of the main innovations in video surveillance in recent years. The lenses are left on a tip, connected via an Ethernet cable to a single main unit, where image processing takes place. This main unit can be up to 15 meters away from the lens. The result is miniature cameras of extremely discreet design and flexible installation.
The novelty is that these cameras now have embedded infrared for the visualization of Full HD images at night or in areas where the store has low light. To cope with the intense ingress of light in the dark, AXIS FA3105-L (which is only 5.7 centimeters wide) also features WDR Forensic technology.
Music to increase sales
The use of music to improve the customer experience, increase the conversion rate and the average ticket is already consolidated in retail. Axis IP speakers, both recessed in the ceiling and visible installation, can now run playlists from content providers Soundtrack Your Brand, Royal Streaming, MUSIC2BIZ and Pinesker Media Company, all suitable for professional use and in compliance with copyright.
The content can also be used with third-party audio systems using AXIS C8033 audio converter, which transforms analog audio into IP. For 100% Axis installation, AXIS C2005 and C1004-E all-in-one solution includes amplifier, mixer, signal processor, streaming functionality, microphone and power source, all pre-configured for immediate use and SIP support. It allows you to regulate the volume of each unit separately, without the need to resort to an audio manager. The solution also allows you to synchronize up to 50 speakers with the same playlist only with the functionalities that already come in the product.
Audio detection for equipment training
Axis recently launched a technology that allows a store manager to live track employees' attention. AXIS T61 adds audio to cameras that don't have this functionality. In the retail sector, managers can remotely monitor the attention of their employees and adjust the sales pitch.
With this release, it is not necessary to acquire new cameras just because of the need to add audio or I/O connection, which preserves the investment made in cameras devoid of these functionalities.
