Reasons for unjustified absenteeism in face-to-face work

ausentismo laboral

Colombia. Colombian workers increasingly allow themselves to be infected by unjustified absenteeism and inadvertently affect the activities of any company. For this reason, many companies have begun to take action on the matter and have begun to look for useful technological aids to monitor in real time the actions of their workers.

GeoVictoria, a management and attendance control company, shared the results of its recent study on "Time control in companies", which shows the percentages of punctuality, delay and justified absenteeism in Colombian workers. The study had a sample of almost 100 companies from various business sectors such as health, customer service, construction, manufacturing, outsourcing, retail, transportation, among others.

A significant increase in unjustified absenteeism was evidenced, this happens when the worker is absent from his work in a continuous way and without prior notice, thus generating that the company is forced to reorganize. This absenteeism can be a serious fault for the worker and can be a reason for dismissal.

Below we present the most important data that this study yielded, on the behavior of workers in face-to-face mode in Colombia:

- Publicidad -

● Months with more arrears: The months that register the highest percentage of arrears are, April with 19.71%, followed by January with 11.64% and June with 11.55%. Showing that in months like May with 8.91% and December with 9.14% are the months where workers are more punctual.

● Months with more absenteeism: The GeoVictoria study also shows that the months with the highest percentage of unjustified absenteeism, those that do not correspond to vacations, licenses or permits by the company, are the month of May with 22.94%, followed by July with 21.79% and October with 11.79%.

● Days with more delays: During the working week, that is, from Monday to Friday, two days were found with the highest percentages of work arrears and are Friday with 10.41% and Monday with 10.32%. When including the day of Saturdays and Sundays, these have percentages of 10.23% for Saturday and 14.08% for Sunday.

● Days with more absenteeism: The unjustified absence for days yielded the following figures, in working days, Monday has an increase of 11.54%, followed by Tuesday with 7.43%. And here a very important fact, the days with the highest rate of unjustified absenteeism in Colombia are Saturdays and Sundays, the latter being the highest with 32.36% and Saturday with 10.93%.

Nicolás Bravo, Country Manager of GeoVictoria in Colombia, says: "Although the management and control of employees' time is an important issue in organizations, in recent years, it is an issue of vital importance. Its correct use allows an efficient and optimal management of the cash flows of the entire company: payment of payrolls, overtime, increase / reduction of hours, etc., which translates into the sustainability of the organization. Not having control of it or, what is more serious, not knowing it, can seriously harm a company. That is why, at the regional level and in Colombia, more and more organizations from different sectors rely on technology, to know in real time the control of the time of their collaborators and thus make better decisions for the company".
