Zoom Survey Reveals Executive Preferences for Flexible Working

Zoom

International. Zoom Video Communications, in partnership with Fortune, conducted a Morning Consult survey to examine leaders' feelings about hybrid work and its overall impact on employee happiness, company culture and business goals.

Some of the main findings that emerged from this survey are the following:
More than 4 in 5 (86%) of leaders surveyed agree with the statement "the future of work is hybrid," while only 4% disagree.

• Leaders like flexible working: More than 90% stated that they preferred a hybrid or remote work environment rather than just face-to-face.

• As for the factors that are most important when deciding on the best work environment for their company (on a scale of 1 to 6, with 1 being the most important), the leaders surveyed rated productivity as the most important factor (2.86), followed by increasing team collaboration (3.44) and maintaining a strong company culture (3.56).

When asked about how they prefer their employees to work, leaders surveyed lean more toward remote work, averaging 60% remote time, 40% of time in the office division.

• Leaders surveyed are convinced that the impact of hybrid and remote work has been more positive than negative, particularly in terms of employee experience. 71% believe hybrid and remote work has had a positive impact on employee happiness.

• On the other hand, 85% of leaders surveyed think that hybrid and remote work has had no impact on the quality of connections with direct collaborators.

• As for the potential benefits for each work environment, 35% of leaders surveyed selected "None" for in-person work, compared to 13% for hybrid work and 17% for fully remote work. The top benefits of hybrid work include greater flexibility for employees (57%), better retention rates (57%), better work-life balance (56%) and increased productivity (53%).

In addition, more leaders believe events, such as enterprise-wide forums (56%) and large group meetings (54%), are more suitable for a virtual format than in person.

Finally, when asked what practices they found helpful in strengthening connections among team members, leaders surveyed mentioned company-wide meetings and meetings (79%), employee trainings (75%) and teamwork exercises (77%) were very helpful.

"Flexibility in terms of where, when and how people work says a lot about recruiting and retaining talent. This has forced leaders to identify and establish new policies to address the needs of employees, many of whom prefer a combination of in-person and remote work as the new norm. This is why Zoom One, our all-in-one communication and collaboration offering, is designed to connect teams no matter where they are," said Rogelio Rocha, Head of Mexico Upmarket & Verticals.
