Innovation and sustainability in Facility Management: the way forward

Facility Management

Panama. Mr. Antonio Pérez, General Manager of Grupo EULEN Panama, analyzed the importance of innovation and sustainability for the Facility Management industry in a country like Panama, where there is an excellent organization of this guild. Below, we share his vision:

In a world where market trends are constantly evolving, it is critical that facility management leaders understand and adapt to these changing dynamics. From sustainable trends to energy efficiency and environmental management, companies must be prepared to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that arise, even those companies that outsource services must commit to the corporate principles of those who hire.

The current Facility Management landscape bases its general services operation on three fundamental pillars: sustainable practices, energy efficiency and environmental management. These aspects are not only crucial to improve operability and reduce costs, but also to meet the growing sustainability expectations of stakeholders. As an integrator, it is necessary to offer innovative and sustainable solutions that respond to these needs.

The importance of technology and data
The integration of technology into smart building management is essential. Tools such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) make it possible to analyse large amounts of data and turn it into concrete actions. However, it is not enough to collect data; What's crucial is the ability to use them to make informed decisions in real time. This translates into greater operational efficiency and an improved experience for users.

Accountability and KPIs
In this context, accountability of deliverables and the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) are more important than ever. KPIs allow facility managers to accurately measure and manage service quality and make quick and effective decisions. It must be understood that speed in decision-making is vital to maintain competitiveness in today's market.

Challenges and training
Technological advances also bring with them significant challenges, such as cybersecurity and the need to continuously train employees. Cybersecurity is a growing risk in an increasingly digitized environment. Staff must be prepared to handle new technologies and systems, which requires continuous and specialized training.

Flexibility and adaptability
The ability to adapt to rapid change and maintain stability is essential for service companies. Operational flexibility includes adjusting schedules and processes, as well as responding to unforeseen events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Adaptability allows high levels of service to be maintained even in adverse situations.

Value generation
Generating value for stakeholders is a priority. This includes maintaining positive relationships with customers, unions, employees, and the community. In a market where user experience is critical, reviews and ratings of services are essential. The implementation of a people-centric philosophy focuses on continuously improving the user experience and ensuring that services are perceived as high quality and value-added.

Diversity and inclusion
Diversity and inclusion have become crucial issues in the business environment. At Grupo EULEN Panama we are proud that 54% of our employees are women and that we have a wide representation of different nationalities and ages. This inclusive approach not only enriches our work environment, but also enhances our ability to offer diverse services tailored to each client's needs.

Towards a sustainable future
Finally, sustainability is a vital challenge. From paperless operation to waste management and energy efficiency, our practices must be designed to reduce environmental impact. The use of technologies such as sensors to optimize the use of resources and improve operational efficiency is only one part of the commitment that a company must have with sustainability.

In conclusion, the future of Facility Management is intrinsically linked to sustainability, technology and adaptability. There must be a commitment to leading this change, offering comprehensive solutions that not only meet today's expectations, but also prepare our customers for the challenges of tomorrow.
