Use of technology solutions for the hospitality segment increases

Hoteles

Mexico. The hospitality sector, mainly linked to the economic activities of tourism, grew by 7.2% during the first quarter of 2024, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR). This increase is largely due to the expansion of tourism, the incorporation of advanced technologies, and integration towards sustainability and sustainability.

According to information from Data Mexico (belonging to the Ministry of Economy), in the second quarter of 2024, the Temporary Accommodation Services and Food and Beverage Preparation Services sector reached a gross domestic product of $778,168 million pesos, reflecting an increase of 2.32% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 2.59% compared to the same period last year.

In this sense, Panduit, a world leader in physical, electrical, network and AV infrastructure solutions, has detected a 30% increase in the request for information on infrastructure technology solutions for the hospitality sector, including: digital keys through IoT devices, used to perform a virtual check-in at the door of the room and wireless coverage within the rooms, in order to enhance connected devices.

"We are living in an era of transformation in hospitality, where technology not only improves operational efficiency, but also enriches the guest experience. Our mission at Panduit is to provide innovative solutions that respond to the dynamic needs of the sector and allow our customers to stay ahead of the curve," said Víctor Juárez, Technical Systems Engineer at Panduit Mexico.

On the other hand, according to Panduit, the main regions of Mexico that demand solutions in the hospitality sector include the Mexican Caribbean, the Pacific Zone and the large cities in the north of the country.

These regions have shown a growing interest in technologies that optimize the operation and security of their facilities, highlighting the infrastructure associated with video surveillance, PoE & IoT devices, and electrical distribution and monitoring through rPDU and UPS. In addition, solutions such as smart infrastructure for door opening monitoring and specialized cabinets have been especially in demand to improve efficiency and customer experience.

Technological infrastructure to meet the challenges of the sector
In addition to the growth of the hospitality sector, it also faces challenges, such as the long times invested in the deployment of the technological implementation and its construction, the reduction of Capex (investments in long-term assets) and Opex (daily operating expenses), the improvement of the occupant experience and competitiveness in the market.

According to SAS, an advanced data analytics and AI company, current trends show that not taking advantage of data properly or offering a personalized experience makes companies less competitive, so it is essential to develop all the analytics that allow customer needs to be met.

However, to achieve all this data capture and analysis, it is essential to have a robust and reliable infrastructure, which allows the adequate communication of all the devices that converge on the network.

In this context, according to Panduit, some key points that companies in the tourism sector should consider are essential:
● Robust communications infrastructure: Improves the user experience from registration to WiFi use.
● PoE & IoT devices: reduce check-in time by up to 50%, enabling virtual check-in and access to rooms using mobile devices.
● Smart infrastructure: allows the collection of data on the opening and closing of cabinets, as well as electrical metrics, which are consolidated in dashboards for efficient analysis and informed decision-making.

"For example, in hospitality, by implementing advanced technological solutions and infrastructure, resources are optimized and operating costs are reduced, in addition to significantly improving the guest experience, which allows them to add valuable services that increase their competitiveness in the market," said the engineer.

Recommendations for a successful digital transformation
Finally, Panduit recommends that companies in the sector carry out a strategic analysis based on their growth plan and select technological solutions that align with their medium- and long-term vision. Therefore, it is very important to opt for manufacturers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and solid support in warranties and customer support.

"Choosing the right technology partner is critical to successful digital transformation. Companies should look for suppliers that not only offer high-quality products, but also provide comprehensive support to accompany their initiatives over time," Juárez concluded.
