International. This is the American company Skyline Automation, which provides installation and connectivity services for installations in buildings.
Bosch is strengthening its international business through an offer of integrated services for commercial buildings, a strategic growth sector for the Energy and Building Technology business area. Bosch's subsidiary Climatec, based in Phoenix (AZ), in the United States, has acquired skyline Automation, a company specializing in building automation and systems integration, which provides installation and connectivity services for a wide range of technical installations in buildings.
With the purchase of Skyline, we are strengthening our activities in energy technology and building at a technical level, while expanding our presence in the North American market, which is showing solid growth, said Stefan Hartung at the press conference held in Stuttgart. Hartung is a member of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH and responsible for the Energy and Building Technology business area. Following the acquisition of Climatec, this is the next strategic step on our path to becoming a single provider of connected building systems and services.
Bosch's connected solutions make it possible to take advantage of many new possibilities in its activities related to energy and building technology, especially when it comes to services. Experts estimate that the global smart building technology market will grow from its current level of around $6 billion to about $25 billion by 2021, equivalent to an average annual growth of 34%.
Bosch Energy and Building Technology includes the Thermotechnics, Security Systems and Service Solutions divisions, as well as the subsidiaries Smart Home and Energy Storage Solutions. In 2015, the Business Area Technology for Energy and Building generated sales of 5,100 million euros.
