International. enerTIC leads, together with the main players in the technology and energy sector, the digital transformation driven by the implementation of IoT technology and its application to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.
The potential of the IoT as a driver of energy efficiency and sustainability was evident in the forum "IoT: Energy Efficiency & Sustainability" organized by enerTIC within the framework of the IOT Solutions World Congress at the Fira de Barcelona.
enerTIC has made a great commitment this 2016 to promote the Internet of Things and publicize the potential of this technology for the improvement of the global sustainability of the planet and energy savings. This theme was present in the four sessions of the day, which were followed by more than 100 CIOs and heads of companies in the energy and technology sector.
The event began with the inauguration by Víctor Giménez, Executive Director of enerTIC and Daniel Marco Párraga, Director of the SmartCAT Strategy of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who highlighted the importance of the application of the IoT as a key to the digital transformation in the day to day of public administrations.
Then it was the turn of José Ramón Corcóles, Director of Systems, Philips Lighting Spain and Portugal, Francisco Javier López, Manager of Energy / Utilities of Everis and Miguel Ángel Díaz Director of the School of Architecture and Technology and President of ASA of the Camilo José Cela University. All of them exposed the importance of IoT as an engine of efficient digital transformation.
The day continued with a session focused on the optimization of energy in the IoT ecosystem. Francisco Conesa, Energy Efficiency Manager at Acciona Services, stressed the fundamental role of remote monitoring as a tool to improve energy efficiency. Indra, with the intervention of Javier Pascual, Head of Smart Home Solutions and Smart Buildings, considers the IoT as an enabler in the Smart Buildings and Smart Home sectors. Finally, Juan Antonio Carrasco MOEM Segment Marketing Manager of Eaton, and David Cos Alferez, Digital Business Development of Telefónica, presented the importance of the application of IoT solutions in the Smart Industry sector and in new 5G technologies.
In the session dedicated to the impact of IoT on Smart Data Centers, Jorge Jiménez, DCIM and Data Center Solutions Business Development Manager of Schneider Electric, and Elisa Martín, Chief Technology Officer of IBM agreed on the contribution of IoT to the management of an efficient and sustainable data center.
The forum ended with a session dedicated to success stories in which the heads of Everis and Philips Ligthing commented on their most relevant projects. The heads of Gas Natural Fenosa and Caprabo Supermarkets also participated in this session. All of them presented the actions they have carried out in recent years in the application of the Internet of Things in their companies to make them more efficient and sustainable energy.
With this event, framed in the international congress IOT Solutions World Congress, enerTIC is committed to its international projection with the aim of expanding its scope of action and publicizing the position of Spain as a benchmark in innovation and technology in areas such as Smart Cities and Indrustry 4.0.
The event was attended by CIOs, Directors of Energy Efficiency, Directors of Technology and Innovation, Directors of Operations, Heads of Facility Management and Integrators. All of them will meet again next March 2017 at the reference congress in innovation and technology for the improvement of energy efficiency and sustainability organized annually by enerTIC, the Smart Energy Congress & Expo 2017.
