Guatemala. Marriott International announced plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel in Guatemala's capital. The hotel project was signed with the Azur Group, a company with investment in real estate, hospitality and restaurants.
The new project, with 147 rooms, plans to open in 2016 and will be located in the center of the capital chapina known as Zona 10 or Zona Viva, for its services for business and leisure travelers.
"The Courtyard by Marriott brand fits perfectly with this hotel and combined with Marriott's backing and sales system, we are confident that the hotel will be successful and play an important role in the continued emergence of Guatemala City," said Manuel Arzú, vice president of grupo Azur, and the lead architect behind the hotel's design.
"The new hotel in Guatemala will be a significant milestone in our rapid expansion through Central America," said Craig S. Smith, president, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International. "
The hotel will feature the brand's "refreshing business" lobby, bar, casual dining restaurant, flexible meeting space and recreational facilities including a modern fitness center. In addition, it will include the brand's new and modern room design.
